  • July 20th 2021 - In line with the lifting of Government restrictions, numbers at FLBT are no longer restricted. Distancing should be maintained where possible, and rostrums will continue to be used. Face masks are to be worn at all times within the Hall.
  • August 23rd 2021 - The Church Hall have granted permission for the use of the kitchen. Please keep use to a minimum and only for the use of making drinks. 
  • Dec 2021: Face Coverings at FLBT: In line with Government guidance, face coverings are required when at FLBT unless exempted. Please let a committee member know if you have an exemption before attending the club. 

Rules 2022 

FLBT Technical Rules Overview
FLBT technical rules aim to be inclusive to all abilities, budgets and ages.
The rules are split into 5 classes which are regularly raced as part of the regular Tuesday FLBT calendar. Other races will have specific rules as required eg Enduros and Retro rounds.
Our classes range from close to ‘box stock’ with minimal changes available, to classes where most components can be upgraded or replaced to permit the racer to fully optimise their racing platform. This generally also relates to the speed of the cars.
All classes have the ability to be run with ‘out of the box’ cars.
Classes rated in changes available (and in general speed) are:
  • Classic F1 (very basic changes)
  • Touring (very basic changes)
  • Classic GT (moderate changes)
  • Formula Libra (most parts changeable)
  • Le Mans (most parts changeable)
The PDFs below contain the rules for the 2022 season, if unsure of legitimacy of any part please ask.
Note: Any car not deemed legal may be raced; however it will not be eligible to race in finals, or score championship points.

Club Rules & Etiquette (updated Dec 21):
FLBT regular races are on Tuesday Evenings.
Race fees are £5 per night, with first attendance free. 
Please be considerate to the Church Hall neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum outside, especially on leaving the premises.

​There is no parking outside the Church Hall. Please use the parking on the High Street.
Doors open no earlier than 07:00 for track building and room setup. Track 'ON' is no earlier than 07:45. Race starts at 08:30.
Access to the track once built will be announced by a race controller. Work on cars and open tool boxes is discouraged during track building to enable the focus on this task.
Due to the weight and size of the track sections, at least 2 persons should lift each track section. No single lifts should be attempted.

ALL cars are to be submitted to a race controller before being placed on the track to ensure adherence to technical rules. Checks may be carried out at any time.
During free practice, cars not complying with FLBT club class rules, or not designed for the track being used, can only be used with the express permission of race control/committee member. Other car classes can be tested providing it does not impede others testing the scheduled car class.

No food or drink should be brought near the track. No objects are to be placed on the track surface. The only items permitted on the track surface are the cars. Tyres should be cleaned away from the track surface.
The use of fluids (used for cleaning, oiling, treatments and general car preparation) is not permitted within the Church Hall with the exception of a small bottle of oil and a small pot of grease, solely for the use of lubrication of bearings and gears. Tyres are only to be cleaned with an adhesive tape.

Marshalling and Track calls will be conducted as per the BSCRA handbook: British Slot Car Racing Association (bscra.org.uk).
     In brief: 
           When a car crashes, remove the car from the track as soon as possible.
           When multiple cars are involved, the car causing an incident goes on last.
           Drivers are not to marshal their own cars, or marshal from the rostrum.
           Justifiable track calls are: The car is in an un-marshalable position. The car is 'riding' on another lane. There is a track fault.
           The race controller makes the ultimate decision on track calls and if they should be upheld.
           ​

Swearing, shouting and poor conduct will not be tolerated.
Children remain the responsibility of parents / carers and should be supervised at all times.

The hall, church and grounds are non smoking areas (inc e-cigarettes and Vapes). 
FLBT will not be held responsible for any damage or loss to any equipment or persons.
Any unacceptable behaviour must be reported to the race controller or a committee member immediately.
Should an individual wish to complain against poor conduct, or have any concerns including the welfare about an individual at the club, they must contact a member of the committee as soon as possible so that the appropriate action may be taken.

​Race night formats:
Heats and Finals (best 3 of 4 timed heats, qualify for ascending finals with step up positions)
​​Segmented (all lanes count towards an overall score and result)

For Heats and Finals, any number of cars (up-to max 4) may be used by racer during qualifying. During finals, only one car may be used which must have competed in the qualifying heats, and completed the equivalent of one qualifying heat.

Heat scores will be totalled from the Lap count score as given by the lap counting software.
Final scores will be totalled from the Lap count score as given by the lap counting software, however position on track at the end of a Final over-rules this and will determine the actual finishing position (eg if a car rolls on after the heat).

Segmented racing uses Parc Ferme conditions. Racers may use a maximum of 2 cars during the racing. 

Points will be scored from 1st place to 15th as follows: 25,20,16,13,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.
​All racers after 15th place will receive 1 point.


Marlborough Cup 2022: Running alongside the normal FLBT Championship, for which there will be five rounds, one for each of the core classes that we normally race at the club throughout the year.
Points will be awarded in the same way as the normal championship, i.e.: 1st – 25 / 2nd – 20 / 3rd – 16, then 13, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2, then 1 point for every other competitor lower than 14th place.
Points gained for Marlborough Cup rounds will also count towards the main FLBT Championship. Race-night subs as usual (£5.00).

Membership will be a nominal fee, and will entitle persons to vote for changes at the annual AGM.

FLBT are affiliate members of the British Slot Car Racing Association (BSCRA).
