Latest FLBT News.

Team manager year summary and 2026
Well another fun year of slot car racing at the club, i really do look forward to my Tuesday nights. We have to be one of the most diverse clubs in the country with members covering all types of the sport which is great to see from Drag racing to 24 hour endurance racing.
We had 34 racers this year (well actually 35 if you count a very slightly tipsy Karen at the Xmas bash) we have 4 different class Champions with Neal claiming the overall championship and Marc T winning the coveted Marlborough Cup.
We did have some very sad news this year with the passing of two of our most regular members Roger and Albert which has left a hole within the club, I must say a big thank you to everyone for helping to sell Roger’s vast collection.
The highlight of the year was the 24 hour race and congratulations to the new FLBT club team on winning the race.
Out side the club, Terry has done extremely well and won Championships at drag racing . Neal, Marc and Louis have also been racing extremely well at the Wales and West Championship. With Neal coming 3rd at the Welsh Grand prix at the end of the year.
The club has also done two overseas 24 hour races at Barcelona and Brussels with Neal, Marc, Louis, Andy and myself.
It was also great to see new members this year with Julian, Andy M and Ayrton becoming regulars .
Looking forward to this coming year when as normal it comes in with a bang with the  Swindon Swap meet on the 4th January. It will be great to see everyone there:).
We have also a great new event to look forward to as we are holding a round of the Wales and West in October and we are encouraging everyone to take part in the club as we are going to make this an extra special event.
Karl and I spent an afternoon over the Xmas break to come up with new layouts of tracks to run in 2026. Le Mans and Classic Sports classes are going to being using the track we tested during the test evening we had back in October which is the layout we are using for the Wales and West round so everyone knows the track and can get their cars set up for it in advance.
After the swap meet we have our club meal and awards night. I have had a few people send me their menu choices, if you haven’t here’s a gentle reminder to please let me know. I am hopeful there are going to be a minimum 20 of us from the interest I have had so far.
The 24 hour race this coming year will be our 10th and likely to be the last on the current track. With this in mind I have asked you guys what format you wanted. So with the votes counted you chose that teams can either use LMP, Hypercar or GT.
To keep things fairly simple the car must be from the Scaleauto range and use a Scaleauto body chassis and motor pod.
Theres going to be 5 sets of tyres per team 1 x handout set and then each team has to supply 4 sets of the same wheels and tyres of which each team will have one set.
As the FLBT team won the race this year we are going to run a team again in 2026. Karl is already sorting a car out for the event. I am looking for someone to help manage the team as I did a lot to help the team last year, as you can imagine running my team running, the event and helping the FLBT meant I was fully stretched so some help would be wonderful.
One last note is to our youngest regular member and start line official Thomas he is going to be 18 in March!! Apart from Thomas’s racing, I think he’s the only one in the club that knows where everyone lives!!!!
Thank you to Louise who has to put up with our man chat every Tuesday, I have added Louise to our Messenger group so she can see what is going on with the club.
So have a great New Year’s Eve and I am looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
Thank you guys for making our club so successful and an enjoyable place to race and here’s to 2026
Cheers
Mark TM
December 2025

In the last meeting of the year, it was a chance to run all those automobiles that otherwise do not get used at FLBT with a Run What Ya Brung evening. As with other years, a pretty eclectic mix with rally cars mixing it up with Nascars and movie cars.
First race was heats, the victor Marc from Matt then Joe.
Second race was the Ping Pong race, with rankings from race 1 setting the racing pairs. Result was- 1st: Neal/Karl, 2nd:Joe/Andy, 3rd Mark/Karen, 4th: Boxy/Andy M, 5th:Marc/Gary and 6th: Matt/Louis.
Third race was the push button race with controllers replaced by pushbuttons. The race controller cannot remember who won, but it will return in 2026!!!
Many thanks to all who took part and for Neal for ordering the Pizzas which sustained us through the evening.

FLBT wish you all a very merry Christmas and have a great New Year.
See you at Swindon Swapmeet at the Grange Leisure Centre, Swindon on 4th January.

November 2025
Brussels Race report.
We stepped up this year to the top class , we knew it was going to be tough and we were definitely not disappointed in that fact. This year Andy joined the team and Neal, Marc, Louis and myself made up the rest of the team. We were using the hand out Slot it Toyota Hypercar. Friday afternoon testing we went through our testing schedule. We learnt what didn’t work but unfortunately not what did. In hindsight we also realised we should be more liberal with using more tyres as just like in F1 new tyres find a chunk of lap time. The race went as well as we could have expected the car ran mechanically perfectly the only issues were a rear wing and nose that came detached and were then easily fixed. The use of tyres were are biggest learning curve we put a new set on every 2 stints (1 1/2 hours) Then it was not overdriving them to get the best out of them. The car again ran faultlessly overnight, but the 1 sec we were off the leaders gradually saw them disappearing up the road from us. In the morning the biggest issue is we lost a significant amount of pace which was baffling to all of us. We took the car off the track for 4 minutes to check as we thought we had a fundamental issue but it was unfortunately just a real shit set of new tyres that didn’t work. This lost us a chunk of time and we slipped down the order. We were all happy with our performance and can’t wait to go back again next year. In the end we finished 11th in class and 21st overall.

A band of merry FLBT men are preparing for another 24 hour event in the month of November.
This time, the band travel to Brussels to take part in the Brussels International 24 Hours by Brussels Scalex Club.
Mark, Neal, Andy, Marc and Louis wil be joining 28 other teams in racing twice round the clock.
This year the team will be racing in the P1 class. Keep an eye out on the FLBT socials of the bands progress.
Details of the event can be found HERE.

May 2025

Early May saw FLBT flying the flag for GB in Spain as Neal, Marc, Andy, Louis and Mark B took part in the Barcelona 24 hours racing against 39 other teams from Europe and the USA!!! We raced in class C with 8 other teams in our class.
It was totally different to anything we had done before. It was 4 tracks they all look the same but two were mirror images and the ones that looked the same went in different directions. You only did each lane once so very challenging but the same time enjoyable.
Marks video brilliantly captures out overseas adventure.

February 2025
It is with great sadness that we hear of Roger James passing. Our thoughts are with Trisha and the family.
A race night in celebration of Roger was held in his memory, and many of his cars will continue to be raced at FLBT and further afield.
