November 2024
Congratulations MBR for winning this years 2024 race.
"I would like to say a big thanks to everyone for the weekend, it was a weekend of so many firsts
We had the most number of drivers ever at the 24 hour. Kane did the fastest lap race lap ever, MBR did the most race laps ever.
These milestones were all done in a car that isn’t seen at the club as a quick race car & has beaten all the loved LMP and GT cars of the last few years!!!!
Well done to Neal for pole, Kane for fastest lap Roger for winning the Gentleman drivers award.
Big thanks to my team as running the event and racing I could not do it without them.
Karl for eating the Brussel sprout 👍
Heather thanks so much from everyone for the great effort you put in to feed us all it was really appreciated by all of us and not only that you drove extremely well and were very close to winning the Gentleman trophy.
I loved the event again and look forward to planning next years event.
Thanks Mark"

Neal and Marc took part in a Wales and West round at Oxford, and although they didn’t have a good run in the classic NSR’s 10th and 11th, Neal finished a respectable 5th in the GT’s and Marc was 9th but still only 16 secs behind Neal.

Latest update from our travelling Drag Racers:
Update on Drag Racing at Brentwood. 19th May last round. Outlaw Class, I managed to become champion again, going in 20 points clear, came out slot first round no points😩, now equal points, to make it worse I was drawn against Alec for next round, he’s been faster all day, so winner takes all, didn’t fancy my chances, but I got a perfect reaction 0.000 and Alec got a red light. Outlaw Class is anything goes no restrictions on anything.
Outlaw 1st Terry, 4th Roger.
C/Horse 3rd Terry, 7th Roger.
Gasser 2nd Terry, 8th Roger.

December 2023.
Bringing 2023 to a close was our last race of the year, the Crash and Bash / Run What Ya Brung. This year, a chance to run cars not usually seen on the FLBT track. A pretty eclectic mix with everything from F1 to 1/24 scale to film cars, something for everyone. Once racing was finished, a time to catch up at The Marlbrough for drinks and Nibbles. Well done to Neal for winning the Overall FLBT championship from Marc and Andy. Huge thanks to all who not only race, but support FLBT throughout the year. Next race is 2nd Jan, with the Swindon Swapmeet on the 7th Jan. |

April 2022
The FLBT club and its racers partake in many sectors of the slot car hobby. April was a great example as FLBT held Drag racing as part of its Tuesday night calendar, a SuperSlix race on a Friday, and HO on a Sunday, all in the same week. Drag Racing. This was split into 1/24 and 1/32 classes, along the FLBT drag strip. Over the evening, 3 elimination races in each scale were run. Terry Won all 3 1/24th runs. In 1/32 winners of each round were Terry, Mark W and Andy. Many thanks for the 'Drag' guys in running the evening. Next development class is Drag on 19th April. March 2022
For the first time ever, the main FLBT track left its home at St Marys, and took a trip to the Swindon Swapmeet. The swapmeet also found a new home at the Grange Leisure centre after many years at the now defunct Oasis. Joining the main track was the Drag strip and Karls fab 4 lane compact scalex track. Bargains aplenty, it was a great day out, with lots to see and great to meet up with the wider slot car community again. Next years Swindon Swapmeet plans to return to its usual spot in January. Funds were also raised for FLBTs choice charity, Julias House. Many thanks to all those who helped, with special mentions to Matt and to Swapmeet organiser Rob Learmouth. February 2022

February 2022
Its 24 Hour Fun! FLBT watched intently as ERA motorsport ran in the Daytona 24hr over the last weekend of January, attempting to defend their LMP2 win from the previous year. FLBT has ties with ERA motorsport via regular club racers. Unfortunately mechanical issues in the final hours cause the car to retire over a difficult, but hard fought weekend. As one 24 ends, another begins. The MBR 24hr is on the 4th and 5th February, with all the usual teams looking to take the win. This year, the cars are GTs, and a great grid awaits. Keep up to date on the FLBT Facebook page during the race weekend. |

December 24 2020
It is with sadness that Four Lane Black Top has to report the untimely passing of another of its regular racers, Steve Grant, who died peacefully this morning following a short spell in hospital. Steve was a very keen follower of motor sport, particularly F1, having travelled in the last few years to a number of Grand Prix around the world. He had been a regular attendee at club meetings for over five years and could always be relied upon to get his hands dirty wherever he was able, as well as putting himself out for others when needed. His feisty race night battles with his compatriots will not be forgotten in a hurry and Steve was rarely lost for words when it came to banter! Club members’ thoughts are with his wife Gaynor and all of Steve’s family at this particularly difficult time October 2020
Four Lane Blacktop has lost one of its leading lights. After a short but intense battle, Rob Lees lost his fight against cancer on Wednesday 7 October 2020. He will be remembered for many things and amongst them will be his long-term commitment to slot car racing, not only within the UK but across the world, whatever the style or scale – he knew no bounds. There are one or two FLBT club members who can go back nearly thirty years to when they first met ‘Rocky’ when even then he seemed an old hand at the hobby! Over the years he also put in great efforts to develop and nurture the hobby, including taking on the role of Chairman of BSCRA for a number of years, then latterly Chairman of the FLBT Club, which has steadily evolved to provide a truly diverse variety of slot racing classes, along with a steadily growing and healthy membership. His will be very big boots to fill. FLBT Club members’ thoughts go out to Rob’s family at this sad time MBR 2hr Feb 2020
Winners of the first MBR 2hr of 2020 were Matts Mutts. 2nd was Yer Maun, 3rd MBR and 4th were THORL. Julias House - Donations from Swindon Swapmeet 2020
FLBT wish to thank all those who donated to Julias House at the 2020 Swindon Swapmeet. We raised £182.65. Well done all. Amongst the days winners, Mike Dadson from WHO was willing to have his photo taken, the prize being given by Steve G of FLBT. Many thanks to Graham M for the donation of prizes. |
